Putting the Eos UltraEndure to the Ultimate Test: Soulfully Ginger Takes on The Speed Project

At the beginning of April, ultra runner Megan Hamill, better known online as Soulfully Ginger — took on one of the world’s most demanding endurance events: The Speed Project.

Stretching from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, The Speed Project is unlike any conventional race. There is no official route, no perfectly structured race environment, and very little comfort. Teams move continuously through the desert, rotating runners day and night with minimal sleep, constant movement, and relentless physical and mental fatigue.

For Eos Elite, it was also the perfect opportunity to put the Eos UltraEndure Running & Trail Vest through the ultimate real-world test.

We caught up with Megan after the event to hear what the experience was really like, what makes The Speed Project so unique, and how the UltraEndure vest performed in some of the harshest running conditions imaginable.

“The whole thing feels surreal,” Megan explained while reflecting on the challenge. “You’re running through the middle of nowhere at times, completely exhausted, barely sleeping, and then suddenly you’re watching the sunrise in the desert thinking, ‘How is this real?’”

That contrast is what makes The Speed Project legendary within the endurance community. It is equal parts suffering, adventure, teamwork, and self-discovery. Runners battle through extreme heat during the day, cold desert nights, dehydration, exhaustion, and repeated hard efforts on tired legs. Unlike a marathon where you settle into a rhythm, The Speed Project constantly disrupts you physically and mentally.

“You never properly switch off,” Megan said. “Even when you’re resting, you’re thinking about your next run, your recovery, your hydration, your team. After a while, you feel stripped back completely.”

That environment made the event the ideal testing ground for the Eos UltraEndure Running & Trail Vest.

At Eos Elite, the UltraEndure was designed specifically for runners tackling bigger challenges — long runs, trail adventures, marathon training blocks, and ultra-distance efforts where comfort and functionality become essential. But there is only so much product testing that can happen in controlled environments. We wanted to see how the vest performed when every small detail mattered.

The Speed Project provided exactly that.

“When you’re running under that level of fatigue, little issues become massive issues,” Megan explained. “If something bounces, rubs, feels heavy, or becomes awkward to access, it starts draining energy from you mentally as much as physically.”

Across the challenge, Megan relied on the UltraEndure vest to carry hydration, nutrition, and race essentials through long desert stretches and repeated team rotations. According to her, one of the biggest strengths of the vest was how little she noticed it while running.

“The biggest compliment I can give it is that I genuinely forgot I was wearing it most of the time,” she said. “There was no bouncing, no irritation, and everything felt secure.”

That feedback is exactly what we hoped to hear.

Great running equipment should disappear while you run. The less a runner has to think about their gear, the more energy they can focus on movement, performance, and simply getting through difficult moments.

For Megan, that became increasingly important as fatigue built across the challenge.

“When you’re sleep deprived and running in heat, everything feels amplified,” she said. This all can be amplified if your gear isn’t comfortable, making this the perfect test for the Eos UltraEndure vest. We were delighted when Megan's feedback was so positive, "The vest stayed lightweight and breathable the entire time.”

Beyond the physical challenge, one of the most powerful parts of The Speed Project for Megan was the emotional side of the experience. Spending days pushing limits with teammates creates a level of connection that is difficult to replicate anywhere else.

“You really see people for who they are out there,” she explained. “Everyone is vulnerable because everyone is struggling in some way. But at the same time, there’s this unbelievable support between everybody.”

That sense of resilience, connection, and shared pursuit of something difficult aligns closely with what Eos Elite stands for as a brand. Higher performance is not always about chasing podiums or personal bests. Sometimes it is simply about finding out what you are capable of when conditions become uncomfortable.

The Speed Project is not designed to be easy. It is chaotic, exhausting, emotional, and unpredictable. Which is exactly why it became the perfect place to test the Eos UltraEndure Running & Trail Vest.

Seeing Megan trust the vest across one of the world’s toughest endurance events gave us the kind of feedback that matters most — real feedback from real runners operating in extreme conditions.

“When you’re doing something this demanding, you need gear you can trust without thinking twice about it,” Megan said. “That’s exactly what you want from a vest.”

And that is exactly what the UltraEndure was built for.

A huge thank you to Megan for representing Eos Elite and for putting the UltraEndure Running & Trail Vest through the ultimate test from LA to Las Vegas.
